The wind was rising in Phoenix Forest Park as the concert progressed. Earlier in the evening, there had been just enough breeze to relieve the heat a bit, but now it was getting stronger, and even threatened to blow away some empty refreshment containers Lorcan had dropped next to him.
Annoyed -- he wanted to listen to the concert, not worry about trash -- Lorcan grabbed the wrappers and cups before they could blow into someone's face and crumpled them together, then waved his wand to cast epoximise, to stick all the trash together and glue it down to the ground until the end of the concert. Nothing happened. Lorcan sighed.
Then, a moment later, a small dog, yipping excitedly, came flying through the air, causing everyone in its path to turn and stare. Lorcan instinctively threw up his hands and a moment later had a handful of squirming dog, which he proved unable to hold on to. The dog fell to the ground and seemed stunned. Lorcan drew a breath, distressed, and quickly leaned forward to check over the dog as best he could, looking a bit stunned himself.
The dog revived quickly, and struggled into a standing position, yapping tentatively and then taking a few steps. Lorcan grabbed it and held it close before it could get away, so he could continue making sure it wasn't hurt. "Oops," he offered to his closest neighbors under the sound of the music, a little bemused and still a little concerned about the dog. He wasn't really sure if he'd caused the dog to appear or if it was just a weird occurrence unconnected with anything he'd been doing.
He petted the dog to sooth its squirming -- it did seem okay -- and looked around, especially toward the edges of the concert area, to see if he could spot a frantic owner.
