Albus was struck stupid. Why? He honestly didn't put together what she was saying. Maybe because it was too much for him to understand or maybe it was because he just didn't want to understand? He didn't honestly know but that didn't stop the smirk on his face and a short laugh that spilled from his lips.
"you're what?" He asked and it was then that everything pretty much rushed over him. That potion was a pregnancy potion that she and another had been working on. A reaction happened when the person was pregnant, the reaction that Shaylyn had.
Now that it processed he just stopped and stared at her. Fear took him over, along with worry and sickness of his own. "Are you sure?" He asked. "You said it was experimental so how could you be s-" The look she had stopped his question. He continued looking her over for a minute the red glow had already disappear but the feeling was still very much the same. It was enough to get Albus to push himself up to a standing position and he moved from the bathroom without saying another word.
Out of the bedroom, down the hall and into the room where his belongings were was where his feet carried him. His hands grabbed his jacket, feet slipped into his shoes and- What was he doing? Leaving? Running away? Yes that was exactly what he was doing!
He moved out of the door and literally ran down the many flights of the stairs until he was out of her building but his feet didn't carry him away from where he stood against the door, he just sucked in a deep breath before shoving his hand in his pocket to pull out a cigarette from its pack and lit it. Albus sucked in the smoke slowly and held it for a long moment before releasing, his eyes closed, his head resting against the warm brick.
He couldn't run... He would love to but he couldn't. He always talked big, about how he was a man but was he being one now? After another draw, he flicked his cigarette away from him and turned to the door, however he paused then too. His hand slowly came down to his pocket and he pulled out the pack of cigarettes and lighter. He stared at it, finally opening the door and tossing the pack and lighter into the rubbish bin that resided just inside near the mailboxes.
He couldn't smoke around her or the baby so that was the best decision wasn't it? His eyes looked up the stairs and another breath was sucked in before he began moving up. Soon, he was back in her flat with the door shut behind him. His coat was removed, shoes removed. He went into the kitchen and washed off his hands, collecting a glass and pouring water inside, he moved back to find Shaylyn still in the spot he left her in, although obviously and very understandably more upset now than she had been when he left.
He took a seat beside her, handing the water over.
"We just complicated things, didn't we?" He asked, biting his lip. "I just... I don't know the first thing about being a..." he trailed off, staring at the tiled floor. "Dad," He whispered. "I'm going to be a dad..." Many emotions ran through him. Fear, sickness, excitement and... happiness? What else could describe the smirk that tugged at his lips after the word 'dad' left them?
Albus vowed no children. He vowed that he would die childless. He spoke against marriage but you know, now that wasn't sounding half bad. He looked at Shaylyn and he seen her in a different light. She was no longer Shaylyn, or well she was but she was more than JUST Shaylyn. She held him inside of her. They were more connected now than they have ever been.
Now Albus would probably have every right in the world to think that she would have messed around on him. He knew for a fact that he used protection every time they had been intimate. So how could it have happened? But he knew Shay and he trusted Shay and another thing? He knew that he had casted a lot of charms and spells and not one of them worked good in fact, things had been getting out of control so maybe what he had placed to protect them, hadn't done its job.
"So now what?" He asked, his head lightly knocking back against the wood he once again sat against with Shaylyn. "I can move in here if you'd like?" He said. "Or we can look for a more comfortable place to be."
