RP: Scorpius Malfoy + Jubilee Sweeting Who: Scorpius Malfoy & Jubilee Sweeting Where: Whitstable (Kent) When: Wednesday. Early, early afternoon. What: Jubilee invites Scorpius to visit a "Sweet shop" (SSC laboratory) for a bit of geek fun. (Think Big Bang Theory--only with less theory and more bang.) WARNING(s): Explosions, graphic injury, gratuitous gastronomy.
On the whole, Jubilee rather liked Whitstable.
It was such a quaint little salty village with its old time-y houses and tiny specialty shops, the odd mix of Victorian brick and white clapboard nestled close to the oyster shops painted a searing salmon pink (with powder blue lettering, really?). A town fixated on the sea--and yet you could hardly tell the fact when strolling on the main thoroughfare.
Well, until you actually tried the oysters.
It'd be preposterous to suggest that Jubilee's campaign to refurbish the shore lab depended on the local seafood. Sure, the giant homegrown beauties were plump and tempting, and possibly the equivalent of gastronomic oral sex. And, yes, seeing the cracked ice piled high with Triton's bounty was, in Jubilee's opinion, not unlike seeing Botticelli's Primavera. Likewise, it was possible that the petite potted shrimps, luscious crustaceans packed in anchovy butter and spiced with mace and cayenne, deserved poetry and song. And then there was the rest of it, a parade of bowled herring in mustard and dill, baby octopus, brown crab meat, smoked eel, rollmops and mussels...
But, really, preposterous.
Idly, Jubilee flipped open her pocket watch, giving an absentminded wave with her other hand to a passing fisherman. Checking in with the lab's progress had made her fairly cozy with the locals, mostly Muggles. The magical contingent was fairly small here, so much so that a hefty percentage was affiliated with the lab and thus cautiously warm as a result. The Muggles on the other hand were openly friendly and curious; they seemed to think Jubilee was an eccentric London cousin.
Then again, wearing evening wear to brunch tended to inspire misconceptions.
