Gideon had taken care of things with the funeral home in pretty short order. He'd shown up early and was pleased to find that the funeral home kept things very organized so the often hysterical bereaved could get things arranged. He was upset about Uncle Eddie, but not to the same extent that the people who were arranging things usually were, and the whole process took maybe half an hour all told.
Now for the hard part he thought anxiously, walking up the sidewalk to the house. He hadn't spent much time with Eddie as an adult, distracted by his own friends and his own life, and visiting him in the hospital at the end didn't make up for all that he'd missed.
And then there was Lu. He'd been picking on her and taking care of her since she was little, and he hated seeing her upset. And there she was, kneeling in Uncle Eddie's flower garden. Generally not a good sign that. He walked up behind her quietly and waited to be noticed.
