Ernie considered for a moment. "Well while I was planning on doing things the normal way and going to work, coming back to see you and getting you home before your father has my head, I suppose that this could work too." He snorted softly, thinking about what Dominic's reaction would no doubt be if Hannah refused to turn loose of Ernie ever again. "Something tells me that you'll want to go volunteer at the centre or the orphanage or, you know, teach classes sooner or later. Having your very own gorgeous auror body guard clinging to you might be amusing at first but I am certain that it would be a pain when I start throwing paper airplanes at the students who I know must be having all sorts of fantasies about asking their gorgeous teacher out."
He sighed, returning to reality. "Your dad will be no worse than he ever was. With Death Eaters like the Lestranges there is no friend who is too close that can't become an enemy in a moment. They want lots of people to come to harm, Hannah, but he's not the only one. They'll get distracted with someone else, or caught. Your dad is clever, and Hestia and the aurors watching them are too...all far more clever than Miles and I, and you know how hard that is to say. He'll be fine."
Dominic laughed, pulling away from her just enough to lift his shirt off and toss over his head into the floor. "All better," he said, smiling down at her. He was glad that her tears were gone, gladder still that there was room for some sort of amusement, even tired amusement. "I've missed you, you know." He toyed with her hand, fingers circling hers for a long moment and taking some sort of comfort in the fact that it was so obviously HER hand and not some sort of trick of polyjuice or disguise. "I kept thinking how much we've suffered and had to hide things in the name of keeping us all safe, and it didn't work. What's the point in denying ourselves of things anymore, hiding, when the end result will be the same?" He brought her hand to his lips, wondering if she understood what he was hinting at.
