Route Two
After walking deeper into the mine than most visitors go, fighting that magically manufactured fear more and more with each step, the explorers are greeted by three openings that look as though they were created by the walls caving in under the pressure of the mine being dug around them. Unearthed as they were, the rocks have fallen unevenly and therefore the ground is a little awkward under foot. There's a breeze coming from somewhere ahead down the dark path that has no lights and the air is stale, claustrophobic.
Heading down this path will trigger a wall trap to spring forward and slam into the opposite wall. Attached to the spikes and impaled by the force are several bodies in varying states of decomposition indicating that some unfortunate explorers prior to this have been killed by the ancient spring-loaded trap. It can be dodged and once triggered - by pressure of someone stepping on the trigger stone - it will make a mechanical clicking sound which gives a ten to fifteen second delay before it is launched allowing for a near miss for several characters. Once triggered, the trap will reset itself after being closed for thirty seconds. There are no lights and no torches on the walls to offer a light source, furthermore there are no hand or guide rails on this path., the way is treacherous with a lot of crumbling paths and thin ledges that need balance and precision to walk across: this path cannot be run. Heading down this path also provides a very strange sense of being watched, constantly watched and followed along with the sound of pebbles falling and shifting although no one would be able to see anything.
