Date: September 17th, 2015 Time: 1 AM Location: 24 Hour Laundry Mat Characters: Max Black and Josias White Description: Meeting at the laundry mat Status/Rating: Private, in progress, rating.
Setting up a time and date for meeting with Josias sometimes felt like something out of an old spy movie. It had to be at an odd hour. Not so early that there would be crowds, but not so late that they would be noticed slinking about. Had to be a place public enough that no one would think twice about seeing them coming and going, even if caught on film together, and yet with minimal or no security to avoid such a thing. It had to be spur of the moment, relatively speaking. Just enough notice that they could slip away without too much trouble but not so much that, again, it might arise any suspicions. It might have seemed like paranoia, but such things had kept them alive so far. Max liked to think of that as a win.
Max arrived at exactly 12:47 in the morning. He sat down in the far back, near a set of larger dryers and a hamper of clothes. Well, he’d need to clean them at any rate. Had to keep some around so no one would think twice. Same thing with a pocket full of quarters.
He was anxious as he waited there. Over a year. God it seemed impossibly long when he thought about it. Over a year since he had last seen Josias with his own two eyes. He’d only been able to see the other man a few times over the years since he left the Order of Leopold. They had to be at a relatively close distance from one another. Had to be able to slip away undetected. Had to find a spot like this. It was too hard to maintain things in any sort of reasonable fashion.
But now… now he’d be stationed here for a while. With Noah around, and his pet, he was willing to bet that Josias would be in the area for a while too. So he took a calculated risk and moved up the timetable so perhaps they might get to see each other more than once before they had to likely come to blows in the streets.
He stood up calmly as he heard the jingle of bells from the door and moved with his hamper to get a better look at the door. For the first time in a long time, he cracked a genuine smile. “Josias.”
