Things were about to change, and one could only hope they were for the better. It wasn’t that she had any ill will, of any nature, toward Jericho Hamilton. Rather, they couldn’t afford to wait. The disappearance of all the Heads, the attack on the Wards, the ever growing stacks of reports from her connections demonstrated that. Sitting around was not what they signed up for. They had a duty to protect people from Shadowkind. Just because they had a setback, it didn’t mean that the monsters would be so polite to just sit back and chill while they got their feet back under them.
Dixie strolled into the library with a stack of paperwork, her laptop on one shoulder and a cat draped across her neck. Selina, a Turkish Angora, normally preferred to explore the around the house by herself, trying to figure out all the ins and out of the house and grounds, see whom might feel like playing or petting her. Today the dark feline decided to play scarf. Dixie entertained the thought that perhaps the cat was just jealous of the time both Flash and Krypto had gotten this morning. The dogs had gotten their run and some training in after Dixie had finished her own.
Or perhaps the cat just wanted to make it clear who her human was. Dixie had enough problems to figure out without trying to psychoanalyze her pets. Case in point as she started to spread out the papers and set up her laptop. She sighed as she started to sort through the work of both of her jobs. Luckily for one, she had more than a bit of help. As she organized the cases by severity and type of shadowkind, Selina perked up and hopped off and headed toward the door.
“She misses you.” Dixie said to Carter as he entered the room. Selina wove her way between his legs, purring and mewing for attention. “Good to see you.”
