As much as Sully's words were comforting - and they really were because Tabitha supposed she hadn't thought about it like that, how she was important to more people than she'd thought - she still couldn't help but feel that she needed to do more to make sure that they'd never be in a position where they were unprepared like she and Matthias were. She closed her eyes when his hand curled around the back of her head and she found herself smiling softly at the simple display of affection that did more to soothe her than almost anything else she could think of right now.
It surprised her, the stress he was putting on how important she was. She knew it had scared Matthias that she'd nearly died on him, she knew that from the way he didn't want to let her out of his sight, how when Noah had burst in the other day he'd gone to protect her first and foremost before himself. The way that he kept close with those little reassuring touches that told both of them that she was still there and she was okay. But she often underestimated the impact she had on people. Being almost told it outright... it was something that really got to her, affected her deeply in a good way rather than anything else. Pushed the fear out of her mind for a little while anyway, gave her something else to focus on, another puzzle for her mind to wrap itself around.
"Makeshift weapons, yeah," she conceded because he'd only been armed with a dagger but she'd made him stakes as best she could which did end up being used by both of them to take out the four vampires that had descended on them.
She broke two squares off the chocolate as it was offered to her, one for herself, the other she offered to Sully. "Thanks," she mumbled, cheeks a little flushed at the fact that she'd clearly needed this. She hadn't meant to need it, hadn't even realised until she was already here and talking about it but she felt... she felt better. Was that wrong? Was that what was meant to happen? Either way, she felt better. And she had Sully to thank for that.
"I think we've probably determined though that smoothie making isn't one of your specialties," she teased, trying to lighten the mood a little, not wanting the heaviness to hang over them for too long. She prided herself on being a light in the darkness to her friends, to the people she cared about. Maybe that was why she felt she couldn't talk to Asher or Matthias, that and she didn't want to remind the latter of what had happened. "Bit of practice and you could add them to the menu though." She drew one of the other ones, a fruity cocktail that had been successful, closer and took a sip of it. "Can't imagine a lot of your patrons could be considered health freaks though."
Subject change, definitely necessary, but it was more than clear that she appreciated what had just happened, her fingers curled gently around his wrist and squeezed in thanks because he'd pulled back.
