Home Sweet...Home? Date: Saturday 3rd March, 2012 [Backdated] Time: 10:30am Location: The Ward Estate, England Characters: Allison Ward & Aloysius Ward Description: A surprising display of brotherly affection Status/Rating: Private, in progress, PG13
Allison Ward had been kicked out of the private school that her family had attended since the dawn of time or whatever and had therefore ended up being forced to pack up her bags and leave, dragging them home with her metaphorical tail between her legs. Not that she minded leaving the school: she’d hated it there, staying away from home sucked, the people were fake, the rules were too… rule-y and everything about the place was just stuffy, pretentious bollocks. It wasn’t her fault they couldn’t take a good prank or two and that they had no patience for someone who just didn’t want to do the assigned homework. It wasn’t her fault that she was busy having fun and far rather enjoyed partying and getting the other students to just relax a bit than focusing on the strict ten pm bedtime (what teenager went to bed at 10pm, seriously?).
But there she was, having been dropped off earlier that morning to a thankfully empty house so she could at least shamefully shuffle her stuff up to her room without being caught under the stink-eye of her parents and siblings.
She’d been there when the headmaster had called her parents to tell them that she was expelled. She didn’t need to even try and listen in because he’d put the phone on speaker and she had heard every disappointed word that had come out of her father’s mouth, and then her mother’s. That had been on Thursday. She’d been allowed to finish the week out but decided that she’d just bum around the school on Friday. She rearranged all of the books in one section of the library, swapped the keys on a number of keyboards and took all the balls out of the mice so that none of them could be used, stashing them in an air vent where they’d be really difficult to find. She’d generally just caused havoc on her last day and felt no regrets because, well, why should she? It wasn’t like she’d be around for the clean up and her parents had already paid for the school year. They could just clean up the rest of it with the hundred pound notes her tuition gave them.
Unable to tell what time her family would be home, Ally was already making plans as to how she would escape and just get away. Knowing she was alone in the house for at least another hour - it took that long to get home from the nearest town and none of her family would be seen dead in Banbury - she headed down the stairs, suitcases in her room and towards the front door when she froze, hearing a car pull up onto the driveway.
Shit. Shit fuck shit fuck shit fuck shit.
Right now? She really wasn’t in the mood to be confronted by her parents and that look she just knew she’d get from them if they caught her now when the expulsion was fresh in their minds. She needed to get away and so turned on her heel and shot down the hallway, skidding around the corner that took her towards the kitchen.
Considering she thought she was alone in the house, seeing Aloysius in the kitchen was a surprise to her and then she felt her stomach twist: clearly her plan of not interacting with any of her family for the near future was going up in sodding flames. Great. Maybe he just wouldn’t notice her? Even though she was in the doorway.
