The weather in Portland this weekend is mercifully clement, warm enough for a cold brew but chilly enough for a hot latte. You are spoiled for choice when it comes to overpriced coffee options. Swing through to pick-up a locally sourced pear and ginger tartlet on your way to work or curl up in front of the electric fireplace with a good book and a mug of tea. Don't forget to tip your baristas!

Francine pauses in her work and stares into the middle distance, finding it hard to concentrate on her Photoshopping and Exceling while answering questions. After a moment, she gently closes her laptop shut.

“I forgot I left my 3D printer running upstairs,” she says, smiling sweetly at Lily. “I really must go or else I’ll have dozens of miniature model kidneys on my hands. I will send you your custom Valentine’s Excel macro within one business day. It was very nice catching up.”

She stuffs her belongings back into her giant-ass purse and then… she’s gone…
