Are you stressed from the trauma you experienced when exploring the secret passageways in the walls last week or the weird shit you've been experiencing in this building in general? So is Lily! Which is why she's thrown herself into planning this eclipse viewing picnic and, as a result, has maybe gone a bit overboard!
Lily throws up a KARMAP post on Sunday evening, reminding everyone that the picnic will begin around 10:00am and that the partial eclipse will peak at 11:25am. However, the food and fun will last well into the afternoon!
When the picnic-goers go up to the rooftop on Monday morning, they will find a perfectly pinterest-worthy; with baskets, and blankets, and throw pillows, and all. People are invited to take a basket and set up wherever they like on the blankets or furniture. She's also brought her bluetooth speaker and it's just playing Spotify's Picnic Playlist. People are free to hijack the speaker to play something else.
MENU
Lily put together little, individual baskets with fruits and pastries for the asethetics; but she also put together a pretty massive grazing table full of meats and cheeses. She woke up very early this morning 🥲
But she didn't make it all herself - she ordered some eclipse-themed cupcakes that she asked Joshua to pick up. And keeping on theme, Lily's also making some eclipse-themed cocktails! A mimosa with a round, dark berry juice ice round.
THE ECLIPSE
Lily managed to get a telescope from the Rose City Astronomers (and organization to which her late brother belonged), and has set up a telescope projection so they can keep track of the sun as it moves towards the eclipse.
She's also gotten some eclipse viewing glasses. But more exciting (to Lily), she's managed to round up a bunch of boxes and is willing to show people how to make pinhole projecters to view the eclipse.
The moon will start to pass the sun at around 10:30am with maximum eclipse at 11:25am, and the moon leaves the sun at 12:19pm. This is what Portland will see.
VOLUNTEER SLOTS
JULIE is really into the mimoas. They have one too many and end up falling asleep on one of the patio chairs. They end up napping through the eclipse. Bummer!
At the height of the eclipse, FRANCINE has eschewed the glasses and the pinhole box, and is attempting to make their own eclipse shadow on the ground, when they notice an odd, extra shadow amongst the group that's a bit hazier than the rest. They glance up to do a quick head count and, when they look back down at the ground to confirm, the extra shadow is missing.
RYAN has also noticed the strange, extra shadow and attempts to point it out to STEPH. However, when they both look to the ground, the shadow is no longer there.
JOSHUA is also loving the mimosas. They fall asleep near the end of the picnic and, drunk on sunbeams and champagne, cannot be woken. They end up having to be carried to Apt 404 by MATEO and GOODNIGHT to sleep it off.
