It was easy to fall back into what they were before – too easy, and she was undeniably grateful for it. She was still the same, quiet girl, but she managed to be a little more silly and playful around Roald. He roused so many memories that it was hard not to be. However, those memories were both a relief and slightly painful to her. “I don’t think you’d make a comfy pillow though,” she chuckled. “And I wouldn’t want you to break your back… but if it happens, I’ll be sure to pay for your medical bill and feed you.” She flashed him a playful wink before she continued to climb up the tree. Jane scaled up in a safer approach, not even wanting to know whatever the hell Roald was doing. Once she saw that he was busy being a chimpanzee, she frowned. “Oi, you be careful.”
Once he reminded her, her brows lifted. “Oh right!” Jane then playfully growled and scowled down at him. “That scared the shit out of me. I was about to cry!” Okay no, Jane didn’t cry, but she was close to it! “Now I don’t feel so bad. You deserved it.” Finding a rather large branch a little higher than the midpoint of the tree, she maneuvered to straddle it (not without checking if it was stable). She patted a similarly large branch that was next to her, telling him to sit while she leaned back against the tree trunk, letting the rays of the sun uplift onto her neck and face. Eyes fluttered to a close, swinging her legs. “I also hid under your bed one time and popped out trying to scare you, attacking you with a Nerf gun.” One eye opened. “Did that work? I can’t remember.”
