Selby let Alex take the lead. He only had to stop once to pull her away from a boutique window.
As they entered the coffee shop, the smell of fresh ground bean made Selby forget the shoes Alex had dragged her away from. It being mid-morning, the early caffeine hounds had vacated the tables and there was only a short wait at the counter. Selby bit her lip, deciding to pass on the croissants and pastries in the glass display case. She ordered her tall cup with cream and a dash of caramel syrup to appease her sweet tooth.
"Can you believe my roommate last year hated coffee? That's just wrong!" Selby cupped her hands around the paper vessel and took an appreciative sip. "She's moved out of the house though, so maybe my new roommate -- if I get one -- will be more reasonable."
Selby worried a bit about DPN's rush. They really needed more girls.
