Day 16 Who: Jaehaerys Targaryen, William Stark, others When: Day 16-- afternoon Where: the harbor, Kings Landing Rating: PG-13 Status: open
There was a rumour that William Stark would be coming to see the workers today. Jaehaerys didn't know whether to hope it was true or not. He wanted to see this lord for himself, he wanted to see who the Great Houses had chosen now his family was in ruins. A part of him wanted to kill the pretender, to march into the Red Keep and order the deaths of everyone who might even have thought of killing his parents, but he knew that would not answer anything. For one thing, he would have to kill roughly half the known world. For another, there had been rather enough deaths already. The Stranger was half likely to start refusing to guide people.
Jaers kept one eye on the road as he and the team he'd been landed in charge of kept dragging bits of broken ships and out of the water. They had cleared the corpses out the day before, and the neighborhood around it as well. Too many dead too quickly, the survivors hadn't been able to keep up with it. The scent of death was faded now, but it lingered faintly at the edge of the senses. Jaers and most of the workers kept their noses covered with masks filled with scented leaves. They had been sent by some ladies of the castle, and Jaehaerys hoped someone had thanked them properly for it.
The rebuilding would be slow, but not so slow as it might have been. The teams were manned and he noticed that aside from the dissent among the smallfolk at least there wasn't any rioting yet... There was a commotion back toward the road and Jaehaerys turned to see what was happening.
