There were always people coming and going, and none of them were all that familiar to Brandon. He didn't complain, but he didn't like it either, at least still he was allowed to look at picture books when he wished, and sometimes they would be read to him. He was allowed to play games mostly whenever he pleased, apart from when mama said it was time to leave Wolf behind and go to court. He also found there were more lessons now, with Maester; and he was getting his name right except for the d which he kept getting the wrong way. Seeing is sister sleeping still confused him and he did not understand why she would not wake up, but is sadness was more connected to his mother, because it made her sad, it made her cry and he could tell. But when he visited his big sister, he would think a lot, think about how to wake her up, because there must be something someone had forgotten to do if she would not wake. He had once, when it first happened and he was to visit he had said her name very loudly (it would be the first and possibly the last time he would ever be very loud on purpose) only to have a hand put over his mouth and shushed. Well anyway it didn't work. Today, he brought Wolf with him, because the last time he asked mama when Gywn was going to wake up she said his sister was very ill, and she needed to sleep until she was well again. This had given him another idea.
Sometimes, his tummy hurt after he had been taken to bed, and everything was quiet and alone he would hold Wolf tighter, and bury his face in his fur and soon enough, he would feel well again. Perhaps Wolf could do the same for Gwyn, perhaps he would make her well and then she could wake up again. He had been taken to see her today, and he quickly went to her bedside, stood on his tiptoes and put the soft furred toy by his sister. He stared eagerly between them both, bright blue gaze drifting back and forth; and though he could tell Wolf was being his softest, and warmest and trying very hard, Gwyn did not blink, or move or turn in her sleep. So he followed the edge of the bed until he was nearer to where her head was perched upon soft pillows, again standing on his tiptoes to get as close to her ear as he could without getting in trouble. "It doesn't work 'less you hold him." He told her in an impatient whisper before stepping back and when she did not stir he slowly took Wolf back and tugged on Maester's clothing asking if he could be taken to his mother please.
He smiled for her and wandered over to stand by where she sat, he liked the smell of the wax seal, it was what being warm smelled like. "Mama Gwyn didn't listen." He told her with a loud, heavy, all-the-breath-from-his-lungs sigh and he took Wolf from under his arm and held the soft toy in front of him, so that their noses were nearly touching. "Wolf was trying to help. I told her so but you have to hold on to him to feel better and she wouldn't." Clearly he assumed everyone was automatically aware of Wolf's magical healing properties. "Not Wolf's fault." He said quietly.
