Her sister’s words were only adding to how angry the girl felt. Unlike Genna, however, no tears pricked Gwyn’s eyes yet. She merely felt more and more angry as her sister continued speaking. “It’s laying,” she corrected her sister automatically, “You’re the baby! You always copy everyone because you’re a little baby, and now you’re being a crybaby. And you’re acting like you belong here with your stupid name. Jenny? Brandon could’ve thought of something better.”
What she was saying may or may not have been making sense but the child simply didn’t care at that point. “Stop it!” She finally shrieked as she knocked the pieces of the mask out of her sister’s hands. “I’m older than you and you’re supposed to listen to me. Stop ignoring me!”
Gwyn knew that Genna was lying to her about not knowing how to steal her height. That’s all Genna was doing these days, lying about not knowing of her height, or pretending she was Jenny, or pretending she hadn’t told everyone that she was older. No, she wasn’t foolish like her sister and she wasn’t going to believe her lies. “You’re a liar.” She said darkly, hands fisting at her sides as she looked at her sister with a glare. “You stole my height and I deserve it more than you, you crybaby. You got to go outside when I was sick, and do things, and all you did with that was get in trouble because you’re stupid like I always told you not to be. Now give me my height back or I’ll make you give it back!”
