"Of course I cried. You weren't there to remind me not to," Genna said with a shrug. "I did mean not to, but she kept talking at me- about His Grace and all the rest of it. She said that he doesn't see us because he can't stop ruling just because something bad happens to a princess. I bet you anything he'd stop if something happened to stupid Brandon."
Genna sniffed. "I call him that because that's what he is." The expression on her face was something new- she'd never loathed anyone really and truly before but somehow over the months something had happened and now when she thought too much about her parents it just made her stomach hurt and made her think about horrible ugly things. "He isn't father and he isn't king." Genna didn't think she'd ever asked her father for very much- she'd only wanted to hug him somtimes or hear a story. She'd even tried being a perfect lady and she'd even tried being the dutiful princess like in the stories. And he didn't even care. Kaelyn might always have been stupid but it stung that her father was too.
She forgot her hurt though as she considered the boys. "We should compare Lucian and Mathis with Brandon. And when we get back we'll see if Ned's any different. I wonder what's wrong with them?"
"I'll find us some bigger torches- I think they have some in the White Tower." Genna took a sip of the cider. "Jaers said there's a trick to training dragons but only Targaryens know. But we're part Targaryen so maybe we'll know it too."
The matter of a weapon was more tricky. "I have some needles to stab things with. Oh, you should take yours too! We could extract information from any thieves we capture." Her expression turned very thoughtful. "You know, I bet we can find some real daggers later- this is jsut the exploration but if the way does work... there's an armory somewhere. We'll just need to find it."
