Who: Gareth Bolton, Penrose's Page When: Day 53, afternoon Where: The Royal Sept Rating: PG Status: Closed
Gareth was savvy enough to pretend at piety, even if he could not pretend at geniality. He went to the Great Sept for regular religious service while they remained at Kings Landing, even as Kyra would tease him in private about it. He knew the words to all the prayers and had read most of the religious texts of the Faith. He even listened to the sermons, old men who lacked for nothing entreating the gods for mercy and justice on the behalf of those who lacked everything. It was laughable.
Today, faith would serve his purpose, he hoped. He had seen Lord Penrose's page, Owain Fossoway, at service in the Great Sept, and often now in the Royal Sept praying at the Mother for Penrose's recovery. The boy did not strike Gareth as particularly fanatical, but religious enough to take the gods, and oaths to gods, seriously. With the help of the page's faith, Gareth would be able to get some answers about the regent house's accusations against Kyra.
Gareth waited in the back of the chapel until he saw the page make his way to the statues of the Seven. At a casual pace, he followed and lit candles at each of the altars alongside Owain. After they had settled some time to prayer, Owain at the Mother and Gareth at the Father, Gareth turned to the page.
"You are Owain Fossoway, are you not? Lord Penrose's page?"
