Tyrells. Jaehaerys' lips thinned at that name. High Garden had not been overjoyed to have a Dornish queen and Paegon had not been pleased that Selester Tyrell ahd not wed one of his sons to Elia. It was old business but Jaehaerys was not inclined to trust the roses.
"The old Eagle was rather notorious in his refusal to come down from his high perch," Jaehaerys said thoughtfully. "But what of this new lord? Kaelyn Stark's not his sister- a minor cousin if I'm not mistaken. Surely he might bear some ill will for Lord Stark ignoring his sweet sisters?" Elia had mentioned Hester Arryn in passing- young, unmarried. Perhaps an alliance to House Lannister.... or his own if he followed the custom of past Targaryens who found themselves the sole remaining familymember.
No more did he like the idea of Braavos- that city and Lys had fought near constantly for centuries and it left a lasting distaste. His great-uncle had been the one to help him and keep him alive- he doubted that would turn to someone attempting to murder Elia. "My great-uncle is one of those I would name least likely to injure his own neice, and in any case if he wished a message sent, it would have been... in some other manner. Lysene favor subtlety above all."
At the question of Polonius, Jaehaerys paused. It was difficult to say. "It would depend," Jaehaerys said with some deliberation. "If he thinks William Stark can rule, he will aid him- Polonius lost his title at my father's word. I would offer it back to him in a heartbeat; that and more, but if he feels Stark is a better candidate then I would not trust him to be bought."
