Tyrith glanced at his son but his concentration remained on the prince. "And whose side would Polonius be on, ser?" he asked quietly. "If he knows the passages it would be as easy to hide the assassin's trail as to reveal it."
"Finding passages designed by the kings' builders is not so easily accomplished, Tymor. Else, they would all have been discovered and opened or walled in long since. In any event, I wouldn't expect you'll long occupy those rooms." William's offer of a few days earlier echoed in his mind.
"William must be seen to do something in answer to this outrage and more quickly than any investigation will yield. Some poor soul's head will soon decorate the steps I would wager, while Polonius and the Council pursue the true culprits. Unless William himself orchestrated this... and then must come a quick and thorough strike to prove his grip and tighten his hold upon the throne. We must be part of that."
He would speak to William. His goodbrother needed a Council and a Hand- and a change in the order would seem an excellent answer to this problem. Meanwhile he would be in an excellent place to aid Jaehaerys and perhaps see his daughter crowned a queen.
"Tell your sister what you deem appropriate, and Tyronne as well- as you send him back to Casterly along with Jeremy. I want them ready and leaving with in the next day."
