"Well...I can admit that I won't be sleeping easily for the next little while," said Tymor. He wasn't going to admit to being as scared as he was, but there was no shame in admitting that it was very disturbing to wake up to a human's body parts and blood in your bedroom, and knowing that you could easily have been the body so brutally slaughtered as you were peacefully sleeping.
He had some of the water his father mentioned, but bread had no appeal for him. He took a piece and only lightly nibbled it, more for his father's sake than out of any desire to eat.
"I'll be sure to look for secret passageways into our rooms," he said after a moment. "I've read enough about them in history books that I should be able to find them if I'm looking for them. Finding those passageways means that we can at the very least move large and heavy things in front of them so that they can't enter any rooms quietly or easily. Or rather, I won't bother either of you to help me with moving heavy things - I'll ask knights sworn to House Lannister. And quite possibly enlist Jeremy's creative talents for mischief in a positive way. He might be able to come up with a highly noisy trap."
He paused, considering.
"Obviously Jeremy isn't going to be told much outside of the truth of the rumours going around the Red Keep. But how much should Mother, Tyronne and Toria be told?"
Tyronne had a hotter temper than Tymor did, and he didn't want to worry his mother and sister more than necessary. Lannister pride amounted to being about as dangerous as Martell or Targaryen fury in some situations. Considering that whoever had done this was clearly trying to provoke an emotional response...in truth, Tymor was more inclined to tell his mother or sister than he was to tell either of his brothers about the details. At least until after the culprit had already been brought to justice.
