History wasn't Toria's strongest point, though she understood some of the events that had shaped the world as it was now. She paid attention to cultures more than history specifically. Understanding a person's culture was a good part of not unintentionally giving offense.
"Princess Elia gets to be a Princess because that's a Dornish custom. They got the custom from the Rhoynar. Same with the fact that the first born child inherits...even if the child is a female. Unless the lady in question marries into another house. Tymor could tell you more than I could, sweetling. He could probably tell you the entire history of Westeros if you'd let him."
Toria winked. "I don't recommend it, though. Tymor's very smart, but he tends to find history more fascinating than most people do. Always ask him for the short version unless he's telling you a story."
