“Really? Lysene history is something I have never been able to grasp, and most books seem to skip over it entirely. All of them are focused on Braavos’ history, which, while interesting, can be found a thousand times over in ancient annals,” Alais gushed, forgetting all pretense of frosty indifference at the mention of books regarding Lys. She had longed to get her hands on a comprehensive history of the Free Cities, and had all but given up on her hunt for something other than the history of the Braavosi courtesan or Tyroshi pirates.
At the mention of joining Elia’s company, Alais paused, always the skeptic. While she was (relatively) warming up to the woman, she could not find herself to trust her entirely. The Martells and Dorne, after all, were not known for their allegiance and loyalty to the rest of Westeros…and Alais had yet to know where Elia’s loyalty lay in terms of the crown. Had not her sister been the (now) disappeared and deposed queen? Alais had no desire to align herself with someone who would give her cousin even more reason to suspect her, but if Elia did not like the Starks either, and was discreet about it, she could prove a valuable ally. And her company would be preferably to listen to the ladies who had accompanied her from the Vale…
“I would be honored; anything to take me away from the nattering of thirteen year old virgins and ancient Septas,” Alais said, returning Elia’s grin.
