The Master of Whispers Would Like a Word...
Who: Polonius Haine, Kaelyn Stark, William later if he wants When: Day 18, early evening Where: Maegor's Holdfast, the queen's chambers Rating: pg Status: OPEN
The Master of Whispers was concerned to say the least. His little birds had been chattering for weeks now over something, and while he had been prepared to ignore it, it seemed only to have worsened. Polonius was not one to pay no attention to the affairs of the ladies of the palace- it had led to the downfall of far too many predecessors. That was how he had heard that there was bad blood between Elia Martell and Kaelyn Stark. The source of the misunderstanding had been rather easy to discover, but the repercussions had hardly been what he had supposed. Now that Kaelyn's cousin had been seen in some rather interesting exchanges with Isobel Dayne, the heiress of Starfall, and there were rumors that the Princes of Dorne might be joining their sister at William's new court (Gods be good, he hoped the whispers were wrong), it was time he addressed the Queen Regent about her southern guests. Whatever Elia's motives for her actions- and he could guess several- the Queen Regent was dangerously close to playing into the vipers' coils. As for her cousin Lord Arys, he thought to ask Kaelyn what her opinion of such a match might be. Although he doubted Elia Martell would have asked Isobel Dayne to seduce a Lord of the Eyrie (Isobel's reputation as a shy and wilting flower being rather solid), stranger things had happened. It would at least explain why a page of House Martell had been seen extending an invitation to a member of the Dayne household. Isobel would have to perform some feat to be so returned to honor as to receive aknowledgement from the Martells...
He had not previously made the time to take the measure of the Queen Regent, nor had he properly briefed her on certain of her guests before her daughter fell ill. He could only hope they would not all be paying for those errors in blood. He had been already to visit the princess's bedside, and found the queen had gone to take some rest. It was only reluctantly that he knocked on the door of the queen's chambers.
