America had always been more than willing to be protective of her lover's friends and family. Hell, on some level she considered them her own family now. While there was awkwardness, and realistically, they were more Karolina's crew than hers, that never fully mattered to America. They were Karolina's people and because they were Karolina's people, that meant the tank would do whatever she could to protect the people that her partner loved.... But then after her multiverse adventures too... Well... There was more there than the runaways just being Karolina's friends and family now too.
"Take it when you need it." And right now? She didn't need it. Later though, later America had no doubt that she'd end up having to call on that. Looking up at catch Nico's gaze. "Sure I'll owe you on it before long." A brief half smile was flashed. America had been very careful in her attempts not to owe anything to the runaway crew. Not because she didn't trust them, not because she thought they'd be particularly upset by it, but because she didn't want to weigh them down, because she didn't want them to feel like she was a burden on their shoulders. They had never had anyone to protect them but each other, and quite frankly... America wanted to prove them wrong. She'd always do what she could to protect them all.
"Never said I wasn't." America half joked before picking up another chip out of the nachos and popping it in her mouth. Honestly, most nights her and Karolina made dinner at home and watched a movie or two. The tank was easy going most of the time when danger wasn't afoot and there wasn't an immediate world to save. Considering what she'd seen in the multiverse, most things that might upset people around this planet seemed insignificant most days. "Can't have a good steak be your cost when you're with a vegan." There was a brief smirk offered. It wasn't that America wasn't an omnivore, because she completely was and sometimes specifically went and ordered out by herself because of that, but Karolina was a good cook, and homemade food often won in the tank's heart more often than not. It wasn't really something she had gotten growing up. "Don't worry. I can afford Club A." The mild banter with Nico was surprisingly easy... Maybe having known her in another dimension would work wonders for their relationship here.
Though, then came the question all of Karolina's friends always seemed to ask America.... Which, it made sense why they would but admitteldy sometimes it got a little old. However, the tank wouldn't let that show. "Good." Things actually had been pretty great since she'd gotten back, since America had promised to lock herself into this universe for Karolina. For them. ""You should spend time with her. She'd be thrilled to see you."
And the mild banter, the easy talk of how things in life had gone as of late, the food and the booze would all help set a theme of comfortable camaraderie for the night. They may have been sisters in another universe, and in this universe their relationships may have started off rough, but that didn't mean they couldn't get along. America had had her doubts eased, and Nico seemed to have finally dubbed America worthy of the Runaways trust and time some years ago. Hell, if they kept up relations like they did tonight while casually joking, chatting and throwing back drinks maybe they'd calling each other family in this universe too in the end.
