It was already late morning. Kitty lay in bed for a moment, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes as she listened to the sounds of Pete breathing nearby. He was still asleep, which didn't surprise her. For all he hadn't slept in the first few weeks of her staying with him, his recovery had required a lot of rest and taken a lot out of him. He had told her a few nights before that he was well enough to resume sleeping on the couch and letting her have the bed, and while she had appreciated the offer, Kitty had had the presence of mind to counter with an offer of her own. Share the bed. It was big enough, and they...well, they were clearly much closer now than they were before.
She smiled, reaching for her phone on the bedside table and flipping through some emails. She liked being able to sleep next to someone. The whole incident with Black Air had been enough to keep her up a few nights, but since this new step in cohabitation, she'd been sleeping like a baby. Pete seemed to be doing alright for sleep himself. She rolled onto her side, content to watch him sleep for a little bit. He looked so peaceful like that, face smooshed into the pillow, breath slow and steady. It was taking all her willpower to not bug him and get their day started, to let him get the rest he needed. She would wait a few more minutes to see if the sun woke him up, and then she'd maybe try her hand at fixing breakfast. For the time being, she would kill some time by messaging her friends.
Quietly, she brought her phone up. She opened up snapchat and grabbed a quick picture of him looking sleep-mussed and adorable, downloading a copy for herself before adding a caption and spending all together too much time picking an emoji. She sent this off to her friends, yawning a bit as she waited to see if any early birds in the states would reply to the message.
