Her whole fucking weekend had been half shot thanks to what had gone down. Which really, her weekend getting jacked up was just the icing on the shit cake that had started last week. Now all the could do was wait. Wait and look for clues that didn't appear to be there. If there were clues, if anyone did have any sort of fucking idea what was going on they weren't talking, and that just made America want to rip someone's fucking head off all that much more. At this point she'd found her way into the Avengers headquarters and located a console in which she could playback footage of the event that had been recorded. It was easy to pick out where she stood, where she'd been in relation to the stage, to remember listening to the droll voices that churned around her, and then.... How Xavier had just stopped. If she'd been paying better attention during the event maybe she could have picked up more clues, responded quicker, but at the same time.... America frowned with the lines of her face tightening and eyebrows furrowed. Leaned back in the chair she'd taken, her feet had been propped up on the console before her as she played back a recording of the shooting. Paused when it got to the part where Xavier died. Rewound the footage. Pressed play to watch it all again. Maybe a new watch through of it would reveal something she hadn't noticed before. Though, if she hadn't found anything at this point - it was her fifteenth watch of the video easily - what was it she thought she would be able to find by watching it one more time? Maybe she needed to look at it from a different angle. Letting her feet drop off the console the tank leaned forward and started inputting commands to bring up another footage reel. This one from another angle, but still facing the stage. If all the camera's were focused on the stage they would give great trajectory information, and possibly assist in identifying the ammo used and trace it back to the gun that it originated from assuming... Assuming they were dealing with guns. Assuming they were dealing with bullets that were store bought. Assuming they were even dealing with someone firing something. Assuming they were dealing with someone from this world, or.... America's frown deepened. What if they weren't even dealing with someone from this fucking universe? It was possible. Hell. Anything was possible. Another play through of the video was left to run and something that had bothered America but she hadn't been able to put a finger on initially, something that had been nagging at the back of her mind since the event, something that had been begging to be asked finally came rushing to the forefront of her thoughts for a second time. Why the fuck hadn't there been a barrier around Xavier to protect him during this whole mess? With all the press he'd been drawing why the fuck hadn't there been more invisible protections on him? Why the fuck..... This wasn't right. Pushing the stop button the tank paused the video again, closing out her access to the system and shutting down the section of console that she'd been using. This was bigger than any of them. This was bigger than a random shooting. Someone would have had to know there wouldn't be any invisible protections, someone would have had to know where the guards were, what the guards shifts were, where to stand, what to fire, how to fire it, have a perfect invisibility and escape route as to not have a group of people full of fucking super powers on their ass in seconds flat. This job was more than just some random instance of attack. This had long term plan, access to powers and intel, and madness written all the fuck over it. Assured the console was off America thought about punching, thought about breaking it in fucking two... But refrained. Instead, she'd get out of here, maybe go punch something in a training room. Maybe... She'd find something else to do with her day. With that America made her way out of where she'd been and started down the halls towards the training center. |
