The multiverse never slept. It kept rotating, expanding, changing and shifting no matter what anyone did. If there was a single person who thought one universe was a big enough mess to handle, then they’d never want to cope with half the shit that America had dealt with on a regular basis. While the tank had made her decision about the matters of where she was staying and how Gert was right…. It didn’t mean she didn’t have questions, doubts, about if it was fully the right choice ultimately. Yet, if the multiverse had taught her anything, it was that you could do everything perfect and sometimes, at the end of the day, that wouldn’t matter one bit. So instead, America did what she could while still trying to remain grounded in the universe her Karolina was in. Yet, when Karolina wasn’t here, the PI cases got slow, her homework was done, and she walked by an energy field or shift that felt weird…. Well…. There wasn’t any reason for her not to scope it out. Which finding a blip on her multiversal tracking radar that felt odd, and required inspection was exactly what she had done when the opportunity presented itself. And it was a good thing she had. That universe had broken into complete fucking chaos, and the people there well… America didn’t really want to think about it. It had turned out to be a rough situation, and didn’t leave her feeling particularly good about life in general after. At least she’d done all she could. Things would be better for that world, not ideal, but better. She’d visit them again later for check-in and to help with the clean up, but the pocket watch she kept - so that America could have a vague idea of time passage in her home universe - had told her she’d been away for at least a day. That meant she really needed to check back in and assure everything was okay there still. While it had been nice to get away from things, and not think about the mess of Xavier’s death this whole thing was a troubling time and utter catastrophe theoretically could break out at any time. It had taken a few minutes to track down the right energy signature before America shifted back, and inhaled deeply. Winding up a punch as her eyes, wrist tattoo’s, and necklace pendant turned an opaque white tinted with blue before forcefully delivering the strike to the space in front of her so that a star shaped door shattered open. Stepping through, the breath was exhaled and America reached for the first happy thought that came to mind - Karolina, her friends - to seal the multiversal breach shut behind her. With a thought of the people she loved, the door closed and the bruiser reached for her cell phone, pressing the button for it to power on, and glancing out over the horizon while it booted up. Only a moment of peace would pass before her phone started beeping to notifications at her that apparently something had happened while she was gone. A heavy exhale, and a narrowing of eyes was turned down on the phone. What the fuck had gone wrong now? Pushing the appropriate app icon she was brought into the text screen and… Oh. Well…. That was a happy thought indeed. A slight smile emerged and America typed out a quick text before pausing. Where would Karolina be right now? The pocket watch was pulled out due to habit before she sighed at herself and simply brought her phone back up. Shit, it was Sunday morning? She’d left on Friday night. The Farmer’s Market. Karolina would be at the Farmer’s Market. With that figured out America pocketed her phone without sending the text, and rocketed up into the air. It would be a brief flight, maybe a minute before she’d slow down, and carefully come to a landing near one of the ends of the stalls that had been set up for that day. Karolina was in here somewhere, and…. Oh. Shit. Right. This wasn’t exactly the best time to just be flying around…. A half frown pulled at her lips as a few people cast her weird looks, a kid or two pulled at their parents sleeve. Sighing the thought was shoved aside. These people could fucking deal. Right now, America just wanted to find her lover. The bruiser had missed the other woman far more than she’d really care to admit. Thankfully, the tall blonde wouldn’t be terribly hard to spot in the crowd and America instantly made a beeline toward her girlfriend regardless of how tired or mildly banged up she was, and proceed to wrap her arms around the other woman’s waist from behind. “Bienvenido a casa, mi Tesoro.” |
