Post-service mingling and dispersal: Angel
Warren had a limo waiting for him further down the street, but he hung around to visit with his friends and to make sure nothing violent broke out, now that the service was over. His suit was pressed and perfect, not a blonde hair out of place, and his wings were exposed and out in the open, boldly, respectfully, proving that mutants could be safe and non-violent. Anyone who knew Angel, with the exception perhaps of the enemies of the X-Men, would doubt that there was a violent bone in his body.
It wasn't the first time Angel had made public appearances with his wings on display, but it was by far one of the most important. Their leader believed in the coexistence of humans and mutants and had instilled that belief in Warren when he'd first come to the school to hide what he was. Now was the time to put his money, as it were, where his mouth was.
Warren talked to news reporters, stood in front of cameras, even waved and signed autographs for his fans who were lined up behind the barriers. All with his most obvious mutant trait on display. Then, perhaps to please the crowd or perhaps as a symbolic gesture for the dearly departed, the Angel unfurled his wings and took flight and soared.
