America, Kate & Open - In the Crowd.
Kate would not have been there today, honestly, if America hadn't dragged her. She would've caught some live feed off her phone or something, but not have actively gone to the rally. While she had mutant friends and mutant-more-than-friends, she didn't feel the need to be there in person. But there she was in the middle of the crowd standing next to America watching a man she'd seen a lot, but never spoke to, talk to so many people. How many times had she been in close proximity of this guy? He always seemed chill, but mostly busy.
So, she was standing there listening to him give the usual sort of inspirational speech people gave at these things. It was cooler than she'd expected, but she guessed that was just the energy of the crowd. It was a good feeling, to be part of something this big. When was the last time she had a feeling like this? It was pretty long ago. It was when the Avengers first got together to fight against AIM and she realized just how big of an impact a group could really have. Sure, you read about it history books, but it was different when you were there. If this got put in history books, she'd be telling people a few years down the line that she stood here in the crowd.
Maybe.
Then the speech stopped at an awkward point and it took a moment for what happened to process. She didn't know what kind of an impact that was supposed to have on her, but everything slowed down for a moment. She really thought it only happened in movies, but there was definitely a pause in time. Her next thought was how that maybe had became a definitely. She would tell people she was here.
Kate didn't have the advantage of being a six foot tall powerhouse like America, so redirecting would be quite difficult. Slowing people down didn't seem like much of an option, considering all the people behind the people who were rushing them. She did help bring someone behind America and tried to press something against her forehead, however. "I wish I had my quiver," she told the taller woman as she tried to slow the bleeding.
