Kitty felt that lump rise up again in the back of her throat. He was offering her some absolution for the guilt she was feeling, and while she knew that ultimately, only she could give herself freedom from the shame she was feeling, it felt good that someone cared enough about whether or not she felt like garbage about herself. With having angered most of the people she knew, it was easy to feel alone in the world. Maybe he was right and all would be forgiven, but if not, at least she could make some new friends.
