Rabastan laughed and drew out his flask, passing it across the desk. He'd already taken a sip or two since entering the Ministry, so he wasn't at all unhappy about letting Barty at it without taking a drink himself first. Besides, it would be passed back.
"Paperwork is infinitely more fun with whiskey," he agreed. He was the authority on that, by far. Then again, he thought that everything was more fun with whiskey, or at least with some kind of drink that resulted in inebriation. "'Course, it's been a long time since I did it without, so I don't have much to compare it to."
He didn't really want to press the point about Vera, but it was the real reason why he was here. Very unfortunate that it had to ruin a reunion that would otherwise be completely filled with amusement and good company, but there was really nothing pleasant about the whole situation. "She is my niece," he said with a sigh. "And I'm worried about her. I want to stick around until I know she's safe, if I can, but it might not be up to me. So find her as quickly as you can, yeah?"
