Given the cases not under his personal attention were about to be left alone for two days in the hands of others, some of questionable ability, Barty wasn't looking at any of his case files. Reports, paperwork, and double checking what everyone else had been doing was a business for a Friday before leaving the office. It wasn't pleasant work per se, but it needed to get done.
His eyes glanced up as soon as the door opened, as there were rather few people who were brazen enough to open without knocking - and they were the few Barty allowed to get away with it. He was somehow unsurprised to see Rabastan, considering. It wasn't an entirely social call, clearly. Finishing up the current page in front of him, Barty pushed the paperwork aside.
"You run away so much, it's like you want to be out of the loop," Barty teased lightly, "I've missed your whiskey." His eyes twinkled, mood improve. Rab was a good break from bureaucracy.
