"That's brilliant," Terrence said, laughing. Smirking, he couldn't resist a little jibe. "But you look like an old lady."
She didn't, not really. But it was a bit odd to see her with white hair, all the same. As awesome and useful as it was that she could change her appearance - and the face she made to do it was adorable - he had a strong preference for her normal looks.
Alright, so he was a little bit smitten. And she wasn't helping things, by curling up in his lap like that. He had the distinct impression that if she curled up in a ball, he could probably wrap his entire body around hers, like a protective shell. That thought made him smile.
His turn again - it was tough to think of anything to say. The only secret he was really keeping was his plan for after graduation, and he'd told her that already. The fact that he liked her wasn't really a secret, exactly, since he'd already told her as much - but since she hadn't believed him, he supposed it was still a secret that he'd meant it. He wasn't really trying to keep it a secret - he'd admit it if she asked again - but it was easier not to bring it up.
Honestly, he didn't really have other secrets, and certainly nothing dark or sinister. "I don't think so," he said finally, "But I've got a few stories. You know how most people find out they've got magic with, oh, making things levitate or disappear?" He laughed. "The first sign that I could do magic was when I set my father's hair on fire. I was three."
