Kingsley starts to open his mouth, but shuts it immediately, because what he's thinking is incredibly impolite. He almost bursts with the strain, so he decides to speak.
"Maybe so, but I wasn't in the same position, monetarily, or otherwise, that I'm in now for weeks and months and years, Sirius. To get the information the movement needs, I have to keep my mouth shut and do nothing. I've been leading a double life right underneath Yaxley's nose for weeks and months and years, so I don't appreciate the lecture about what I'm able to do now versus what I should have done in your mind. As for choosing this one, I feel I reserve the right to choose which battles I can step in and fight and why."
Kingsley puts down his wine glass, angrily. "I've apparently worn out my welcome. Don't go to any trouble for this girl on my behalf, I'll find another way."
Damned if you do and damned if you don't with this lot, Kingsley thinks bitterly. Remus and Sirius carrying out their relationship with no concern in the world, meanwhile the love of his life died in 1980... and when Kingsley finally is in a position to do something good for people in this situation, he gets mocked and is made to feel guilty.
