Who: Harry and Sirius
When: Mid-morning
Where: Kitchen at Remus & Sirius'
What: Godfather/godson bonding time
Why: Because Sirius wants to know about the Horcruxes--and how to get rid of Voldemort. I mean, doesn't everyone talk about these things at the breakfast table?
Rating: Probably PG-ish; Unless Sirius starts talking like a sailor, which is always possible.
Sirius hadn't slept well. He hadn't been sleeping well since Harry's arrival. There was so much on his mind, and when he did manage to sleep, he was disturbed by dreams that frightened him. It was obvious he was dreaming about his other self's life in Harry's real world--a life that was full of cold, pain, fear, and loneliness. At times he dreamed of a nothingness that frightened him even more. He hadn't asked what exactly had happened to that other Sirius, but it was abundantly clear to Sirius that his other self had died.
He'd tried to come to terms with the things his other self had faced: James' death; Peter's betrayal; twelve years in Azkaban; and then death. He'd finally realised there was no way he could reconcile what had happened there with himself in this world. He had to think of that other world's Sirius as just some bloke that Sirius didn't know. It was time to stop concentrating on what had been, what could have been. It was time to focus on what would be, based on who he was now and here. He'd come to that realisation that morning at some gods-awful hour and, subsequently, he'd slept better than he had for days.
He'd waited until Remus and Vera had gone to work before getting up, hoping to work things out in his head a little better, to figure out what he was going to do next. He went to the kitchen and began organising the things he'd need to make an omelette. He wondered briefly if either Harry or Gilbert had eaten yet, but decided they'd be along soon enough if they hadn't.
