James was lucky that he was not yet drinking or eating anything. He knew that Kingsley had probably intended both comments to get a reaction out of him, and he had no idea which one to react to first. He sat very still for a moment, and then burst out laughing, because there was really nothing else for it.
It was a moment before he got to his feet, shaking his head and still trying to form sentences that would be proper responses to either of the things Kingsley had said.
"Firstly," he said finally, as they approached the bar, "I'd be brilliant in a gay club." That was a weird sentence, indeed, and he deserved the odd look he got from a passerby. "Secondly - how can you just give me a motorcycle? You know I can't accept that, it's too big of a gift."
And that was an even weirder sentence, in the context of discussing a gay bar. James was trying very, very hard not to laugh, and not succeeding. He hadn't wanted to laugh so hard in ages.
