James wasn't entirely sure how he felt about spending the night away from Lily. Even if she were alright with it. They'd held each other together through everything, somehow, and with them both working most of the day, nighttime was really the only time they had together.
Maybe if they hadn't endured so much, he would have felt comfortable taking Kingsley up on that offer. But what he did at the end of every day was go home to his wife - even if he managed to drink enough that he was unsafe to drive. He'd walk, if he had to.
"Doubt it," he said, making light of it. He grinned. "But if you like, I can help make sure you don't go home alone."
He examined the menu, and selected a pie that he thought both he and Lily would enjoy. Getting it home on the bike without squishing it would be an interesting maneuver, but he was sure he could manage.
After a moment, he set down the menu. "So," he said. "What was it you wanted to give me?"
It couldn't really be the bike, could it? He knew Kingsley wanted to help them, but buying them a motorbike? That seemed like too much.
