"I know," Vera admitted. "But he hurt Uncle Luc, and he wanted to talk to you and Mother, and...he's less likely to suspect me of anything, he never even met me before that. I just wanted to protect everyone."
"I won't," Vera promised. "I won't meet with him again without you or Uncle Luc saying it's okay."
She considered that. "He said he was tired of all of it -- and that the world he had known turned it's back on him when he was sorted into Gryffindor...he apologized for hurting Uncle Luc, because it hurt me, and said that he'd been abused by him and other people like him...and that they would keep hurting him unless he came back."
She sighed. "He never answered my questions on whether he suddenly thought it was wrong, he evaded them."
