Shaela nodded, taking a deep shuddering breath. "Riordain," she whispered. "Originally, I'd told him not to contact anyone. I didn't want anyone to be able to trace him. I haven't seen him in," she paused, tilting her head, then shaking it, "eight years...ish?"
She looked up, brown eyes full of fear. "He won't leave. I told him I'm fine; I'm safe. He won't leave, Ginny, and I can't do what I feel I need to with him here."
On some level, she registered that she was having a panic attack, or at least leading up to one so she tried to focus on breathing, though as she did, images came forth that had nothing to do with her brother, but still didn't comfort her.
