Shaela had a very valid point. If they didn't start showing the lasting effects of the rations edict, not only were they never going to get it lifted, but someone might start asking questions. It wasn't like they were eating well. But they were eating well enough not to waste away to nothing, which was what ought to be happening if they were really just surviving on bread and water. It was time to start using those candies that Fred had sent.
Ginny had to volunteer to be the first test subject. First of all, they were her brothers' creation, so she would feel responsible if anything went wrong. Second of all, someone had to be first and it just might as well be her. She hadn't any idea of what to expect from the brightly coloured candy except that she'd be feeling like shite for about an hour after she ate it.
Not wanting to waste it, cause they did have a limited supply and would need the faculty to start noticing the error of their ways in starving the merchandise, she went out looking for someone to impress. This would've been vastly easier if she had the stupid map, but as it were, Carrow did, so she was shite out of luck on that end. She figured the infirmary corridor would be good as any seeing as the Matron would have to at least mention it to the Headmistress if one of the servants was nearly dying in the hall. Especially one that was being purchased at a high price.
She saw someone who looked too big to be a servant a ways ahead walking towards her, but too far to tell who it was. She turned and popped the candy in her mouth, surprised at how fruity and delicious it was. She didn't know how long it would take bef---
Not long at all apparently.
Almost instantly she felt the blood draining from her already pale face. Chills went down her spine and her forehead broke into a cold sweat. She turned back around, rather clumsily as she struggled to keep herself upright, reaching out to brace herself against the wall. She felt like she was going to retch any second and was trying to keep her breathing even. Stumbling forward she let out a small whimper as she tried to find the strength to stay standing. She was doubled over before too long, pressing a hand to her face as though trying to stop the sweat from trailing down.
She'd have to remember to thank Fred for doing a brilliant job on the candies. She felt like she was about to die.
