chasing high and low Who: Zach & Fred What: Finding George's journals/stash When: 4pm Sunday Where: Zach's flat, train station between London & Blackpool Why: Zach is helping Fred look for George Warning: Unknown Status: Incomplete
Zach hadn't slept since Saturday morning. But he didn't care. When he got back from the castle, Romilda had answered his journal question, and then he had written to Fred and offered to help break into and track George's journals. And Fred had been so grateful and wanted him to work on it immediately.
So Zach had. He had done the first sprint, a few hours, without a break or anything to help him. But then he had hit a little bit of a wall, just a small wall. It was one Zach knew how to overcome, but just...his mouth was yawning and his stomach growling. So Zach had brewed some strong tea and eaten some nuts and other food for some good energy, while he figured out the next couple steps. Rubbing his head, Zach had realized he stank from the night air, trudging outside, and simply needing a shower. But a shower, especially a warm one, Zach may have fallen asleep in. And he couldn't have that. Plus it wasted time.
Although odd for that early in the morning perhaps, Zach began tracking items, again in his house. But that wasn't the point, given he knew where they were. He was concentrating on the feeling, the distance, the difference in the magic. Once he felt he could do it, he went back to tracking George's journal. It was slow because Zach knew it was north, but how north? He apparated in small steps, constantly having to regain his bearings on the journal. He had to basically lose the connection to apparate, so it was slow going. Hours, to be precise.
Zach saw more British countryside than he had wanted to, cared to. He wasn't very good at obliviating muggles, so a couple times Zach had to confound them, so that they didn't know they'd seen him pop up. And Zach hadn't eaten all day. Honing in on the journal was ridiculously hard. Zach ended up popping into a town to buy a map of England, to locate himself and constantly figure out what direction to go. The circle closed in more and more, but it was hard with apparition to get an accurate fix, like it was with walking.
So by the time Zach approached a muggle train station that was along the line to Blackpool, Zach felt ready to both smack George for getting Fred so worried again. But in a train station, there was a locker. Zach hadn't opened the locker, and he didn't want to risk it going wrong then. So he sat in the train station and wrote to Fred, who wrote back 'immediately.' He went to the loo, got a stall and apparated back home.
Landing in the kitchen, his stomach growled. God, so hungry. And tired. Oh god. Zach blasted the water hot with his wand and instantly steeped the tea, adding a bit excessive amount of milk, just to get to drink it right away. He also opened the first food he could find - crisps - and began going through them like nothing. Just til Fred got there. Just for a little bit more, so he didn't pass out or splinch them.
