Remus had taken the time while the others were finding Neville to investigate the castle a bit more on his own. He dared not go far from James and the map-- assuming it would tell them if anyone was coming-- but he poked his nose around this corner and that, wondering what had changed. Hogwarts was a deeply emotional place to him. He had, in a sense, begun his life here. Prior to his time in these halls, life had been his parents and a future prospect of permanent isolation. Now he had friends, and though it was not the life he had imagined for himself after Hogwarts, it was most certainly more than he had imagined as a child.
He hated Voldemort for stealing away his teenage dreams. Smelling blood and tears in the halls of his boyhood home made him seethe. He knew that after this, he had to plan some stand against Voldemort, even if he planned it alone.
