Cho had carefully set out the food related treats that her parents had sent to her. She had already partaken of the oranges, as she didn't think they would break her diet at all, but left most of the sweets and biscuits to share with any of her friends that might want them. In addition, she had decorated her room with flowers, primarily sunflowers, broken up with some chrysanthemums. Adding to that the new set of red robes her mother had sent to her, Cho felt she was doing her best to have an authentic Chinese New Year within the confines of school, even if she had gotten started two days too late and most of it was improvised at the last minute.
Excited to be doing something other than studying, she was sprawled across her bed, re-reading one of the letters that her brother had previously sent. She found herself having trouble concentrating; she had spent far too much time reading lately, and doing so even for pleasure was frustrating.
Eventually, exasperated, she tossed the letter into the open drawer by her bed and darted across the room to open the door, so that anyone who wanted to come in would know that she was available for visitors. Having accomplished that, she was content to drop herself onto the hair in front of her mirror, and pull her hair into two long plaits, the familiar twisting motions helping to calm her a little.
