Barty watched Evan carefully, holding himself together because Evan needed him. Evan needed him, at least as much as he needed Evan. More so probably. But oh it hurt, to see those blue eyes and have them lack all recognition of him. Oh, like Barty was able to deny Evan anything. Evan as confused and different a tone that came out of those lips, Barty couldn't say no, couldn't deny him. Barty nodded, "I promise." And he meant it, more than any unbreakable vow - not that Evan would know what that was then, it seemed.
And then the question, oh Barty bit his lower lip and blinked profusely for a few moments as he gathered his breathing under control. It was not a mask he was drawing up. No, not with Evan. Barty wasn't going to pull any of those, another reason he wanted to get home. But oh, that Evan had to ask, it pierced through his heart.
Swallowing, Barty tried to breath evenly. Yes he was. "The love of your life," Barty replied, remembering back to the times Evan had told him so, so sweetly, so hot, so jagged while making love, those sweet words. And now, oh Barty couldn't help but show how they made him feel because they did, he did, and Evan was his, the one man he loved and was going to love forever.
