Who: Rabastan and Barty What: dinner and catching up (and drinking 'cause it's Rab) When: Wednesday evening. Where: Academy infirmary. Warnings: TBA
It actually hadn't been a terrible day for Rabastan. Terrible for the people who had come into contact with him, though. He wasn't in a bad mood, but he was working, in a different way from his usual diplomatic methods. His violent side had been tempered over the years by alcohol and luxury - or to be more accurate, it had been tamed, briefly. But the current circumstances, particularly his stint with sobriety, had made it particularly difficult to be a genuinely pleasant person.
Thankfully, he'd finally gotten a chance to take out his mood on someone; the unfortunate soul he'd actually managed to track down, the first Ashwinder egg he'd tracked all the way to the end. Not that it had helped, because he'd recovered the bloody thing; it was still sitting in a container, frozen. Not the egg he'd been looking for.
But he'd had some fun with the hunt, at least. He was in a decent mood when he Flooed to the castle to see Barty, stepping out of the fireplace in Evan's office. He'd wanted to be here ever since he'd heard the news, but if Evan was unconscious, it wouldn't have helped anyway. He wanted to ensure that his last words to his friend were not 'fuck off', spoken in genuine, sober anger (though that was Evan's fault, really, making him care about his own health), but if Evan couldn't hear him speak, was there a point? He didn't know.
At any rate, he didn't mind going to dinner with his friend. He'd brought food along, from one of his favorite restaurants. And he had a bottle of whiskey, of course. He hadn't been sober again since he'd first taken a drink after hearing the news, and he wasn't planning to do that again. Not unless Evan woke up and forced him. It was like a challenge to his unconscious friend - wake up or watch me drink myself into the ground, you bastard.
"Barty," he said with a smile, holding up the food. "So you don't have to be eating school fare. Merlin knows you've earned a treat."
