Kitty laughed. "Strawberry cheese? Whatever floats your boat."
Her smile disappeared as Rogue kept talking. "That's awful. But... you said 'was,' so... she's out now, right?" Kitty knew all too well the terrors of being held captive, although she guessed that mutant-hating bigots were probably scary in a different way from mad scientists.
"I'm... stircrazy's a good word for it, actually. I still miss Kasey, and everyone's still kind of freaked out by what happened to Arla..." Kitty lowered her voice. "Dude from the government came to check our registrations, Arla put up a fight and got dragged off. We're all sort of lying low for the moment. What else can we do, you know?" Xavier wasn't going to put the school at risk. And even if they were prepared for action, who would they act against? Another presidential assassination? Stealing the Constitution and holding it for ransom until mutant rights were granted? The opposition this time was something much more nebulous.
