In the conservatory, was the calm response. Charles rarely seemed rattled. It was just his way. It came form knowing people's thoughts. Surprises were rare. His calmness tended to bother people, but it made his irritation, his anger, his fear, or his joy really shocking. He did have emotions, he did have feelings. People just didn't expect it from him.
As it was, Charles was once again under a good deal of stress. Things had been quiet since Victor Vivieros's election. Charles hadn't really approved of the decision but it had been done democratically. He'd pushed to get Blake in the White House. That hadn't happened. Charles had high hopes until the registration debacle started. Now it seemed like they were in trouble yet again and Charles was growing weary.
He was, however, taking this time to relax in the conservatory and enjoy a cup of tea. That wasn't going to last long, not with Kitty's thoughts in his head.
