The kiss ended and it was David pulling away rather than Arla. She was left hanging, in a way, as her hand relaxed itself and settled against David's chest. It took her a moment to realize that that second kiss wasn't going to come. At least, not at the moment, and she let her eyes open just to look at him. She didn't say anything. It was awkwardly silent. She was waiting for him to react, so she would know whether to apologize or tear his shirt off or do something in between.
